The F1b Bernedoodle is the result of crossing an F1 Bernedoodle with one of the parent breeds(usually Poodle). This cross typically has a higher percentage of Poodle genetics, usually around 75% Poodle and 25% BMD.

The breed was "invented" in 2003 by a Canadian breeder named Sherry Rupke.  In order to "breed out" some of the sickly genes in the Bernese Mountain dog, she bred it to a Poodle and the Bernedoodle was born.  Her goal was to attain "the traits people love about the Bernese with the chance of better health and a long life" and that is exac
